The first 22 cards being called the Major Arcana, the remaining
56 which are called Minor Arcana, resemble an ordinary set of playing
cards. This does not mean they are less important; but they do work
in a different way. The Minor Arcana is divided into four suits
--- Wands, Pentacles, Swords and Cups, with each suit possessing
four court cards: Kings, Queens, Pages and Knights. They can show
either situations, or actual people who are significant in the querent's
life at the time of the reading. Traditionally, the cards represent
someone of the same sex, that is, the kings show men, queens show
women. It is important to remember that a king could also represent
a woman who is in a position of authority or heavily biased towards
her masculine side, while queen could represent a man who plays
a nurturing role in querent's life.
